Shifting long laterals twice a day? Yeah… nah.
That’s why more farmers are moving to fixed grid irrigation systems. They’re automated, reliable, and give you better water distribution without the daily slog. You just set it up once, manage it from an app on your phone, and get back to running the farm (or sneaking off for a cuppa).
Why Fixed Grid beats K-Line & Laterals
- No more moving sprinklers – your staff will thank you.
- Saves water & reduces leaching – smarter distribution, less waste.
- Fully automated via app – set your schedule and let it run.
- More reliable – fewer breakdowns, less labour, more consistency.
- Better crop & pasture performance – uniform watering means healthier paddocks.
Our Free Fixed Grid Assessment
We start with a no-obligation fixed grid assessment to see if it’s right for your farm.
What we look at:
- Your water source, pressure & flow
- Elevation, mainlines and area to be irrigated
- Suitability for zone or individually controlled vs other options
If fixed grid stacks up and you want a full design & price, we provide that as a paid step — and if you go ahead, the design cost comes off the job.
Two Types of Fixed Grid Systems
Zoned Fixed Grid Systems
- Reduces the number of valves and controllers by up to 90%.
- Sprinklers spaced up to 30 metres apart.
- Less initial cost, less maintenance, less hassle, and much cheaper down the track.
- Lower application rate.
- Ideal for water flow of 15lps or more.
- Minimises wind effect by irrigating the whole grid at once.
- Adaptable: start with a manual system and automate later when it suits you best.
- Grid is not constantly under pressure = less leaks to sort out in the future.
A real game-changer for farms.
Individually Controlled Sprinklers
- Typically 7 to 9 sprinklers per hectare = lots of valves and controllers.
- Sprinklers spaced 40 metres apart.
- Individual sprinkler control for precise irrigation.
- Easier to maintain the same application rate with part-circle sprinklers.
- Ideal for limited water flows and small areas.
- Faster installation than zone system due to less posts and pipes per hectare.
- Higher future maintenance needs (can get costly with all those valves and controllers).
Fixed grid irrigation saves time, labour, and water, all while giving you better results in the paddock.
